FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • At what age can my child start lessons?

At KICK Swim Centre, we accept children from 3 months old onwards. Proven benefits of infant swim lessons can be found in our developmental program information. We currently offer free swimming lessons for the community for 3-6 month olds.

  • What does my child need to bring to the lesson?

It is our policy all swimmers, when they advance into classes on their own (around three years), wear a swimming cap & goggles. Babies 3 months - 3.5 years are required to wear a swim nappy ( if not fully potty-trained). These can be purchased via the customer service desk.

  • How much do swim lessons cost?

Due to a wide variety of lesson types, each cost is different. Please contact our friendly Customer Service class to have a Free-swimming assessment or enquire about prices and availability. You can call us on 07 4128 4888 or email us at herveybay@kickswim.com.au

  • What do I do if I cannot come to a lesson?

We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for non-medical absentees. 1-hour minimum notice for medical absences. You can notify us of absence either by telephone or the iClassPro customer portal. If you cannot get through to us on the phone please leave us a message and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Do you provide makeup lessons or refunds?

Yes, we allow up to 2 non-medical make-up lessons per term. For extended medical leave, a credit application can be submitted to secure credit for the remaining term. We DO NOT provide refunds.

  • Do you have lessons all year round?

We hold lessons aligned with QLD public school terms. During School Holiday periods, we hold Intensive Block Swim Lessons.

  • How do I get a progress report?

Please approach our friendly customer service team or pool supervisor to arrange an assessment. During assessments we will provide information on the child's progression.

  • Is the pool heated and enclosed?

Yes, our indoor pools are heated at 32 degrees (33 degrees in the above ground pool) Celsius, fully enclosed, and purpose-built for learn-to-swim classes. Our outdoor pool is kept at 28 degrees Celcius.

  • How do I change times?

Please see our friendly customer service staff.

  • When do swimmers advance to next level?

Although we have assessment weeks at the beginning and end of term our teachers are continuously assessing children's ability throughout daily lessons. Children are assessed on their merit, if they are competent with all skills required in that level, and have approval from the pool supervisor, they will progress to the next level.

  • What is the difference between Dolphin Gold and Junior Squad?

Once a child has progressed through all levels of Learn to Swim they will have the choice to join Dolphin Gold to maintain their fitness or they can try out for Fraser Coast Swim Club. Show Couch Liz what you’ve got for your chance to start your competitive squad journey in Shark Bronze. Dolphin Gold is also available for competitive swimmers who wish to have an alternative time slot to train.
